Rava
Rava is a one-of-a-kind telepresence device, which transports remote users into the room with immersive stereoscopic vision, crisp spatial audio and seamless device control from an intuitive web application.
In the modern era of hybrid work and digital communication, most of us have experienced the frustration of remote meetings. There are many moments when it’s hard to know when to speak, to read the room, or to truly feel part of the conversation. Existing platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Google Meet have enabled global connectivity, yet they continue to fall short of creating immersive and equitable meeting experiences. The result is often disengagement, reduced collaboration, and a loss of human connection.
RAVA (Remote AVAtar) was developed to address this gap. Designed as a hybrid meeting system that feels more organic, RAVA allows remote participants to experience conversations as if they were physically present in the room. It enables remote attendees to see with a pair of eyes, listen with a pair of ears, and speak with a mouth, projecting their presence into a physical space with agency and voice.
Developed in consultation with CSIRO, the project has undergone multiple stages of user evaluation, including iterative surveys and testing with participants across different age groups, professions, and technical abilities. These studies confirmed a clear demand for more engaging and human-centred hybrid communication, directly shaping RAVA’s design principles and user interface.
RAVA’s mission extends beyond technical innovation. It seeks to rebuild trust between people and technology. In a landscape where digital products are too often double-edged, serving both convenience and exploitation, RAVA represents a deliberate step towards transparency and user ownership. Unlike systems controlled by large corporate entities, RAVA places control back in the hands of its users.
When you purchase a RAVA device, it belongs to you entirely.
- You can repair it yourself by using our online guides and resources.
- You can tinker with its software, because its code-base is open.
- You can trust your privacy, because we implement E2E encryption - so your data is never collected.
- You can host your own RAVA server at home, using our open-source homelab suite
At its core, RAVA aspires to make digital communication feel human again. It invites people to connect, collaborate, and participate while sharing a real context, bringing equity and empathy back into the hybrid meeting space. As the world continues to adapt to new forms of work, education, and social interaction, RAVA stands as a reminder that technology should serve people, not the other way around.
